In the previous post, episode 2 of the podcast, I talked a little bit about my first trip to Ukraine (and, if you want to be picky, so far my only trip to Ukraine). I dug out my old photo albums, and found some pictures I could share. The quality might be a bit so-so (так собі), they are old photos which I scanned with my smartphone camera.
Let’s start with Mother Ukraine herself. Note that this was in the early 90s. The insignia on the shield has been changed to the Ukrainian trident since then.
Underneath the foundation on which she stands, there was a museum that mostly featured memorials from WWII. It was quite dramatic.
As mentioned, almost every village had a storch next up on a pole. I naturally had to take a picture of one of them.
And finally, driving into the sunset, leaving Ukraine. At the time I didn’t know if I wanted to come back or not. Now I know I do!
