On my list of my 12 favourite words, we will start with positions 12 to 10.
12 – Пісня
Пісня is pronounced “pisnya” (or perhaps “pisnja” is better) and means song. I think it’s a nice little word, and as a musician, I am always weak for music-related words. I’m also fond of the looks of the letters п (p) and я (ja) for some reason, as well as how the ня (-nja) sounds.
11 – Весна
Весна (vesna) simply means “spring”. As in the season, not as in a coiled up bit of metall. I think I like simple and soft words, that just feels good to pronounce. Весна is such a word.
10 – Зелений
The word on position number 10 is the first colour (of two) on the list. It is pronounced zelenij, and means green. I think I relate it to the greek godess Selene. Although she was a godess of the moon, there is something with the sound of the word that makes me think of a lush, green glade in a sunny forrest. There is a calmness to it.
